DONNER: cues/summary for négation notes

DEVOIRS: Weekly Conjuguemos assignment: 20 correct conjugations from activity U1.1: LE PRESENT: Avoir, and 20 correct conjugations from activity U2.2: LE PRESENT: les verbes en -er.

ITINÉRAIRE

I. Sonneur [5 minutes]
  • Make the following sentences negative:
    1) J'aime le chocolat.
    2) Elles parlent avec moi.
    3) Vous écoutez au prof.
  • Make sure to complete this on the U2.1: Les Sonneurs document on Google Classroom.
  • Be sure to turn in your négation notes by either putting your paper copy in the DONNER box or on Google Classroom.
  1. Go to Google Classroom
  2. Select the assignment titled U2.1: La négation.
  3. Click on the blue TURN IN button at the top right corner of the assignment.

When you are done, go to Google Classroom and submit the U2.2: Le jour typique du lycéen français document.

II. La négation [15 minutes]
  • Today we will play a game in which the two sides of the room will race against each other to make sentences negative.
  1. The class will be split into two groups.
  2. Each group will be given a small whiteboard on which they will write their answers.
  3. Mme Probst will write an affirmative sentence on the board.
  4. Beginning with the first person in the row, each team will make the sentence negative.
  5. Whichever team shows their answer to Mme Probst first will win the round.
  6. The whiteboard will be passed on to the next player in the row and we will start over from step 2.

III. Les pronoms sujets [20 minutes]
  • Today we will review the subject pronouns in French.
  1. Mme Probst will define and review the subject pronouns, first, second and third persons using the picture below.

  1. Pull out a sheet of paper.
  2. Split your paper into six parts by folding it it half hotdog style, and then folding it in thirds hamburger style.
  3. Title your left column "singular," and your right column "plural."
  4. Title your first row "1st," your second "2nd," and your third "3rd."
  5. Write your French subject pronouns in the appropriate boxes according to the example Mme Probst gives you.
  6. Now, in each box, develop how you would represent each of the different subject pronouns using a human-like representation (ex: dog, robot, unicorn).
    An example of how you would write this: For Je: a potato pointing at himself, Tu: a potato pointing at one person and looking at him, Il: A potato pointing at another person that he is not looking at.

IV. Le vocabulaire [15 minutes]

  • If time permits, we will play Kahoot!
