Who is in our Homeroom?First, we will take about 5 minutes to take a look at the people who posted on our Homeroom Padlet. Feel free to comment, or even respond to my (afhsfrench) comments! If you haven't yet, please add your information to the Padlet. We will be together for a few years, so let's get to know one another! Virtual Meet the TeacherTonight is virtual Meet the Teacher! Here's how your parents can access it:
GRITGrit: Passion and perseverance for long-term goals. Excellence sometimes seems like the result of natural talent. But no matter how gifted you are—no matter how easily you climb up the learning curve—you do need to do that climbing. There are no shortcuts. Grit predicts accomplishing challenging goals of personal significance. For example, grittier students are more likely to graduate from high school, and grittier cadets are more likely to complete their training at West Point. Notably, in most research studies, grit and measures of talent and IQ are unrelated, suggesting that talent puts no limits on the capacity for passion and perseverance. [Character Lab] Pulse Check: Are you grity? Move to the appropriate side of the room to rate how much you agree/disagree with the given statement, then share with a partner.
