I. Sonneur [5 minutes]
  • ​You have 3 minutes to study for today's BOOM Quiz.

II. Interro BOOM [10 minutes]
  • Collect your BOOM Quiz from yesterday from your personal box.
  • Write BOOM 2 underneath your first quiz.
  • We will do the same process as yesterday.

III. Le Vocabulaire [10 minutes]
  • You have five minutes to study the next set of vocabulary.
  • Add these terms to page 7 of your Cahier Interactif.
  • You will have a quiz on five of these terms tomorrow.
IV. Les Numéros 1 à 10 [10 minutes]
  • Next we will start working on numbers 1-10.
  • Follow Madame Probst's presentation and take notes on how to say the numbers 1-10 in French on page 6 of your Cahier Interactif.

V. Les Célébrités Françaises [45 minutes]
  • Today we will do an activity in which we explore Francophone (French-speaking) celebrities.
  • Now, go to Google Classroom and open the activity titled U1.1: Lire: Les Célébrités Francophones.
  • As a group, work through the parts of the assignment, one step at a time. As you finish each step, raise your hand and Madame will come to check it.

ITINÉRAIRE

I. Sonneur [5 minutes]
  • Write your answer to the following question on page 1 of your Cahier Interactif with the rest of this week's Sonneurs.
  • ​What is one thing that you learned from reading your assigned article yesterday?

II. Interro BOOM [10 minutes]
  • Pull out a sheet of paper (NOT from your notebook!).
  • Write your name and number in the top right corner.
  • Title the paper "Semaine 1" and below, write BOOM 1 with the numbers 1-5 down the left.
  • Madame will say a word in French and you will quickly write the definition in English.
  • Madame will go through and say each word once with a pause to write and then review them all very quickly, so pay attention!
  • Once you are done, turn over your paper and wait until your table is called to turn in your paper. YOU MAY NOT TALK while quizzes are out!

III. Le Vocabulaire [10 minutes]
  • You have five minutes to study the next set of vocabulary.
  • Add this vocabulary to page 5 of your Cahier Interactif.
  • You will have a BOOM Quiz on 5 of these terms tomorrow.
IV. Greetings in France Jigsaw [15 minutes]
  • Today we will finish the activity we started on greetings at the end of class yesterday.
  • In your groups, take 3 minutes to compare your FRAMEs and make sure you all have all of the necessary information.
  • Madame will split you up into your home groups where you will have one person who has read each article.
  • When you arrive at your home group, you will have 7 minutes to share all of the information that you have gathered.
  • Take notes on the new information on the back of your paper.
  • Add this paper to page 4 of your Cahier Interactif.

V. Le Dialogue [30 minutes]
  • Today we will create a dialogue! 
  • Send your Fournisseur to collect a bag of the parts of a dialogue between three different people.
  • Using the dialogue parts in the bag, put together the conversation between Pat, Maréchal and Dominique. 
  • You can use the vocabulary we have learned from this unit to help. Make sure that the dialogue flows and makes sense.
  • Once you have put together your dialogue, raise your hand to have Mme Probst come and check your work.
  • Now, according to your role in your group, you have the following roles in the dialogue. Practice the dialogue and give it a twist (ex: show that the dialogue takes place during a tornado, one of the characters is a vampire, etc.).
    L'orateur: Pat
    L'archiviste: Dominique
    Le Chronométreur: Maréchal
    Le Fournisseur: sound effects/background
  • We will present the dialogues with their twists to the class!

ITINÉRAIRE

I. Sonneur [5 minutes]
  • First, be sure to collect the activity on La Bise from your personal folder. It should be sticking up.
  • Write your response to the Sonneur on the same page as your response from yesterday.
  • What do you know about French greetings based on what we learned today and what you know from previous experience?

II. Le Vocabulaire [15 minutes]
  • Today we will study our first set of vocabulary.
  • Pull out a sheet of paper and copy down the following terms and their definitions.
  • After writing down the vocabulary, you can study with some of the Quizlet games until the 5-minute timer goes off.
  • We will then review them as a class to prepare for tomorrow's BOOM Quiz.
  • To prepare for tomorrow's BOOM Quiz, use the "Learn" function and listen to the vocabulary term. You will then write the English definition.
III. La Bise [15 minutes]
  • We will finish the activity that we started on yesterday.
  • All of the activity materials are at this link.

IV. Les Salutations en Francophonie [50 minutes]
  • Next we will do an activity called a Jigsaw in which we will learn about different French-speaking countries and how they greet one another in these countries.

ITINÉRAIRE

I. Sonneur [10 minutes]
  • Each day you will come in to my classroom, pull out your computer to go to the class blog (this page) and begin to work on your Sonneur or "bell ringer."
  • Today, pull out a sheet of paper and write "le 28 août" (today's date) and answer these questions:
    Why did you choose to take French? 
    What are you most excited about in this class?
  • We will review and share our answers with our table and then as a class.

II. Le Syllabus [20 minutes]
  • Today we will do a brief overview of the class syllabus. 
  • In order to access the syllabus (and to show it to your parent/guardian), go to this link or go to this TinyURL: tinyurl.com/syllabusFrench1 .

III. Le Questionnaire [20 minutes]
  • Now, on whatever device you have, please go to this URL and fill out the questionnaire or go to tinyurl.com/questionnaire1718. When you have finished, please lay your phone down or close your computer to tell Madame that you are finished.
  • You may pull out your phone to look up your parents' phone  numbers and emails.

IV. La Bise [35 minutes]
  • Today we will do an activity in which we will learn about La Bise, a French greeting.
  • All of the activity materials are at this link.
